John Kyle emigrated from the town of Lorrademore, in the south of Ireland, to America, and came direct to the State of Pennsylvania, reaching the Kishacoquillas Valley on horseback, accompanied by his wife and child....He married a Miss Crawford, whose children were Margaret (Mrs. Hamilton Kyle), Crawford (who settled in Brown township), and Joseph (who located on a tract of land east of his brother). The latter was born in 1781 and married Mary, daughter of John Brisbin of Centre County. The children of this marriage are Samuel (born in 1812, deceased) and John (born in 1813, deceased). Judge Kyle married a 2nd time, to Jennett McFarlane of Armagh township, whose children are Mary (Mrs. John Thompson), James(now living in Brown township), Crawford, Elizabeth R. (Mrs. George McDowell), Margaret (Mrs. William McFarlane), Priscilla (Mrs. Henry Taylor), Joseph (now residing on the homestead farm, married to Mary E. Davis), and Charles (of Clinton County, married to Ann Campbell).
Judge Kyle's son Crawford was born February 12, 1821, on the homestead now owned by Joseph Kyle......Crawford Kyle was, in 1844, married to Miss Sarah, daughter of James Brisbin, whose living children are Elizabeth (Mrs. Wilson), McNitt, and McFarlane. Mrs. Kyle died in 1858, and Mr. Kyle was again married, in 1859, to Miss Mary E., daughter of John Kyle. Their children are Sallie and Junie. Both Mr. & Mrs. Kyle are members of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church.

Joseph Kyle and His Ancestors. Joseph Kyle., Sr., Reedsville, married, first, Mary Brisbin, of Center County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of John Brisbin. By this union, there were two sons born, Samuel, born in 1812, and John, born in 1813. He then married Janet McFarlane of Reedsville. She was a daughter of James and Mary Louden (McCormick) McFarlane, and one of eight children born to them, being in order; Elizabeth, who who married General John Thompson, of Centre County; Rosanna, married Henry Taylor; Janet who married Joseph Kyle; James married Lily Henry; William, who died in 1853, and married Hannah Means; Margaret, married William Thompson, and died in 1840; Robert, born 1801, died in 1825, unmarried; Andrew born in 1803, married Mary Smith, and Nancy died in infancy. To the union of Joseph and Janet (McFarlane) Kyle were born these children; Mary, who married John Thompson; James married Anna Taylor; Priscilla, married Henry Taylor; Rosanna, married George McDowell; Margaret, married William McFarlane; Crawford, married first Sarah Brisbin, and second, Mary Kyle; Joseph of whom further, and Charles, who married Anne Campbell, of the west end of the Big Valley. Joseph Kyle, seventh issue of Joseph and Janet (McFarlane) Kyle, was born January 8, 1828, at Reedsville. Having attended manhood, Mr. Kyle engaged in farming until his death in 1905. He was a Democrat in politics, a respected member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church and honored by his neighbors. He married Mary Elizabeth Davis. The Davis Lineage is as follows: John Davis came with his cousin, James Milliken to Armagh Township in 1772. He married Catherine Foster of Lancaster County and their children were: Elizabeth, married Samuel Taylor; James, married Mary Kennedy (born 1785, died 1821); Jane, married; William Barr; David, married Mary Alexander; Jefferson died unmarried; Samuel, married Mary Snyder; Nancy, married William Brown Alexander; George, died unmarried; Maxfield, married Mary Gordon, of Kentucky; James Davis, married Mary Kennedy, and their children were: John Maxfield, born 1823, died 1833; Charles Kennedy, born 1825, died 1869; Samuel Foster, born 1827, died 1850; James Thomas, born 1829, died 1833; George William, born 1831, died, 1917; Nancy Jane, born 1833, died, 1921; Mary Elizabeth, born, 1836, died October 3, 1931, and Rachel Anne, born 1838, died 1914. To the union of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) Kyle, which took place January 29th, 1862, were born these children: Janet, Bessie D., Edith M. and Frank Kyle, who married Bertha I.
